Description

Redondo Beach is an oil on canvas painting by Arturo Laime. It depicts a lone surfer standing at the edge of the Pacific Ocean, gazing toward the horizon under a glowing sunset. The waves shimmer in vibrant tones of purple, blue, and yellow, while the distant hill crowned with a cross adds a spiritual note to the coastal landscape. The figure, seen from behind, holds a surfboard and seems paused between land and sea, anticipation and immersion. Based on the artist’s own memories and featuring himself as the model, this work reflects on solitude, freedom, and the dialogue between human presence and the vastness of nature.

The painting belongs to the series Surfers, where Laime explores the essence of surfing as both a sport and a search for meaning.

Materials: oil pigments on canvas. Frame made from European reforested woods

Finish: The painting is stretched and stapled on the reverse on a 0,7″ deep frame with the sides painted dark purple.
