Painted shortly after the artist’s arrival in the Black Forest, Girl in Love reveals a moment of delicate transformation — where perception, memory, and feeling intertwine. A young woman gazes toward a valley drenched in vivid colour, while above her, red blossoms with leafy wings rise into the air like living messengers. Their flight blurs the boundary between flower and bird, suggesting that emotions themselves have found a form in nature.

The painting’s surface vibrates with thick, luminous brushstrokes. Saturated greens and blues anchor the landscape, while flashes of crimson and rose animate the sky, creating a dynamic rhythm between serenity and inner fire. The impasto carries a tactile immediacy — the sensation of colour becoming emotion.

Psychologically, the work speaks of awakening — the wonder and vulnerability of rediscovering affection in an unfamiliar world.
