Description

Car Bomb is a mixed media painting where vibrant green dominates the composition, creating a stark backdrop for a dramatic scene. At the center, an explosion unfolds in bursts of yellow, red, white, and black, painted with vigorous strokes that radiate outward. The outline of a car can barely be recognized, its form shattered and dissolved by the violent energy of the blast. The expressive brushwork and intense contrasts convey a sense of unstoppable force, as if the explosion were still expanding beyond the canvas.

On a deeper level, the work recalls the artist’s memories of car bomb attacks during the years of terrorism in Peru, while also speaking to the persistence of violence in today’s world.
